A Crazy Week... and then some
First off, sorry to everybody who is following this! I have not been updating as often as I feel like i should be / would like to, its just been a crazy week (and then some). Let me explain the many reasons why my life has become much more stressful than it was the first week and a half or so of school;
wait before i get to that actually... I took a picture of my schedule just to show everybody. Any white space is free time (as of now) and colored means I am busy. I know it looks like a lot of white space but it usually ends up getting filled... or i am sleeping because its 1:00am
1) I actually have homework now. I am currently working on three papers (given they are about a show I saw, and interview I did, and those funny oldspice commercials) but that is not the point at all, point is I have schoolwork
2) As some of you may or may not know I am doing props for the first clemson players (the clemson players are the theatre students at clemson who produce, direct, act in, etc. two shows per year) production this fall entitled These Shining Lives (By Melanie Marnich). The show is about four women who work at a company that paints watch faces with radium and how they all contract radium poisoning and what it does to their lives (happy stuff I know). So my job is to find or make every single prop mentioned in the show. Which basically means lots and lots and lots of watch faces (or something that looks like them... over 1,000 to be exact), lots of paint brushes for the ladies, small bottles of 'radium', etc. It is much more tiring than you would think because everything must be period appropriate (late 1920's to early 1930's). Last week we had rehearsal every night from 8-10:30, and then on sunday in the afternoon, and then a production meeting that was this monday at 8 am. So you get the picture there
3) Crew- we have practice tuesday and thursday at 6 am and then weights in the afternoon monday, wednesday, friday.... and they are actually making me work out. Also with being an athlete i am required to do 10 monitored study hours a week in the student athlete study center, so that place steals all of my free time as you can imagine.
4) Around all of this i attempt to occasionally speak to people, sleep, and eat... sometimes i can fit it all in :)
(but honestly though i am really happy)
To add onto all of this THE FIRST FOOTBALL GAME WAS LAST WEEKEND!!
hopefully ya'll can see (or atleast hear) the video

Here are a few other assorted pictures from game day!
These are my friends Brittany, Meredith, and a girl from their hall who I am also friends with, Kelsey
Here is the sea of orange while walking to the stadium
and last but not least a short video of the players entering (hopefully it works!)
This week has been somewhat 'uneventful' compared to last week I guess but it has not been dull. Last night a traveling production of The Color Purple came to the Brooks Center (the main theatre here at clemson). We were the first stop on their tour (which is why we are assuming they had a few little tech glitches, but we forgive them because it was a great show). After the show (if we wanted / needed shop hours (i fall under the category of both)) we could help pack up the show. It was a 4 truck show meaning that there were 4 semi's that we had to pack before everybody could leave. All the sets came down, all the lights they had brought, all the costumes, the dance floor they had brought in, props, wigs, everything had to be packed up. So, long and hard into last night a bunch of theatre kids from clemson and a broadway production crew of over 100 people helped pack up 4 semis and did not finish until after 3 am..... and then the kids decided they were starving and all went to waffle house later. The most depressing realization was when someone had announced it was 4am and I then realized that in a mere 4 hours at 8 am, i would be in class. I had so much fun and learned a lot and am extremely exhausted today.
although it does not sound like it, i am having fun, tons of fun actually. I really enjoy all of my theatre classes and i am getting to know the people there and on the team better and better each day. And i can say i actually know shortcuts to most of the places i need to go now so my walking has been cut in half.
hope you all are doing fantastically, get some sleep for me please
love,
Marie

My Room
So now that I have moved in and gotten quite settled (and turned my room into a total mess) I decided I needed to clean it up and show ya'll around.
here is a view from the door of my room
So when you walk in the closet is directly on your right, here you can see my extremely life saving shoe storage and closet which is surprisingly not overflowing with clothing
turning further to our left is my dresser-esk thing. Its actually the dresser they provided and the nightstand they provided stacked atop eachother to make this amazing little thing. You can also see the step-stool I need to get into my bed. I had originally brought a smaller one but, it was much too small and so we had to buy that one so I could get my self into bed.
here is another shot of my bed and all the storage under it
here is my desk and computer and some pictures from home
this is what is behind my door, much needed over the door hooks and hooks I put on my wall to hold my various bags.
so now that I have given you the tour of my oh so lovely 9x12 box I will introduce you to my roommates
here we all are dressed to go to the student athlete welcome back picnic
on the far left is Laura (but she goes by Lalla) and she is from Torino, Italy. Next is Lisa, she is from Delaware. Then me. Finally is Katherine she is from North Carolina. We had alot of fun at the picnic and the food was really good (bbq to be specific)
As a final note, as many of you know I get a lot of gear as a student athlete so I just wanted to show off my new lovely shoes that I am wearing basically everywhere I go
They are orange of course.
I hope you all are doing well and there will be new fun and exciting things for me to tell you next week. I am off to watch the Ravens game now!

Packing
Here is ALL of my stuff in the living room a few days before we left. I was confident it would all fit but my parents were not so sure.
Ultimately it would not all fit in the back of the car so a quick rescue from u-hal was necessary.
Here is everything all packed
We finally made it to Clemson! after driving all night, through a crazy rainstorm and having to create a makeshift bed for me in the hotel room we finally made it to my new home for the next year
here is everything once we moved it into my new teeny tiny room
soon I will have pictures of what my room looks like now (it is much, MUCH better) and pictures of the apartment and of all my roommates
